Syracuse University will adopt an electronic portfolio Faculty Information System (FIS). This system will enable capturing details about faculty activities in research and creative activities, teaching, and service in a useful, consistent, and sharable manner. Once fully implemented, it will be the backbone of all faculty reporting processes, including annual updates, reappointment reviews, tenure reviews, and promotion processes. It also can be used to create consistent web-based faculty profiles. Consistent processes, workflows, storage, and use of faculty information across the schools and colleges will contribute to more robust sharing of faculty accomplishments and reduction for faculty in the time needed to produce reports. This will create ease when managing critical functions such as annual CV updates and the process for promotion and tenure decisions. This system will help bring critical academic processes and scholarly and creative activities into a digital environment. The result will optimize workflow, support enhanced reporting, and ease decision-making across the University.
