Tutoring Services at Syracuse University
ALL-UNIVERSITY SERVICES
Tutoring & Study Center (TSC) The TSC provides academic tutors for students seeking to do better in their courses. The best graduate and undergraduate tutors are found by collaborating with the deans and faculty of the schools and colleges. These students are trained to work effectively with individual students and students in small groups. Workshops are provided upon request for topics such as time management, test-taking and study strategies. College Learning Strategies The University's Center for Study Skills offers assistance in acquiring advanced learning strategies in the context of your academic coursework. Assistance is provided in developing study skills, preparing for tests and examinations, and completing course assignments through the 3-credit course, CLS 105. Accounting Tutoring Beta Alpha Psi, the National Accounting Fraternity, offers free tutoring for Accounting 151, 201 & 252. There is a walk-in schedule posted in Whitman. Chemistry Tutoring Alpha Chi Sigma, the Professional Chemistry Fraternity, offers free tutoring for general Chemistry classes (CHE 106, 116) and Organic Chemistry (CHE275, 285). The Writing Center 101 Huntington Beard Crouse Hall (HBC) Phone: 443-5289 The SU Writing Center is available for all who are interested in developing writing skills across the curriculum. For students it is a place where they can improve their writing, regardless of their level of development, by working with consultants at any stage of their writing process. For faculty it is a resource which enables them to supplement their own classroom writing instruction through student referral, requests for in-class workshops and presentations led by consultants, and dialogue with staff members about writing pedagogy. Center is staffed by professional, graduate, and peer writing consultants. To make an appointment, log on to the website using your SU NetID (the first part of your email address) and the first nine digits of your SU ID# (without hyphens). Services are also available on a drop-in basis Monday through Thursday, 10 AM to 2 PM.

Engineering and Computer Science (ECS) Academic Excellence Workshops are small group, 1-credit, workshops geared toward achieving success in the area of mathematics, statics, and dynamics. Tutoring Support for Athletes The Ann & Milton Stevenson Educational Center and the Iocolano-Petty Football Wing The Center focuses on the enhancement of academic performance through the development of study and communication skills, goal setting, stress and time management, tutoring and mentoring. Academic performance is monitored for NCAA, Big East and SU eligibility and degree advancement toward graduation.
