The Syracuse University Safety Department works to provide a safe campus environment. Information regarding Fire Drill Schedules, Emergency Evacuation Procedures, an Emergency Guide, and other relevant information can be obtained by contacting the Safety Department or reviewing their website.

EMERGENCY EVACUATION

Employees, staff and visitors of Syracuse University who anticipate a need for assistance during an emergency evacuation should follow the guidelines outlined by the Syracuse University Safety Department. Students living on the Syracuse University campus will also need to notify their residence hall director of their potential needs. Students with disabilities are encouraged to contact the Office of Disability Services (ODS) to make arrangements to have a copy of their class times and locations placed on file each semester with the Syracuse University Department of Public Safety.

SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF)
SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) students should review the emergency procedures on the SUNY ESF University Police website. Students should also contact the SUNY ESF University Police Department regarding policy and procedures for obtaining assistance in the event of an evacuation from SUNY ESF buildings .

EMERGENCY ALERTS
Blue Lights
Strategically placed two-way call stations are located throughout the SU campus. Blue Light stations are pole-mounted above a call box. When an alarm button is pressed, an individual is automatically linked to the SU Department of Public Safety and an emergency response is set into motion. Location of blue lights can be found on the Syracuse University Campus Access Map or through the Department of Public Safety Website. For more information on location of Blue Lights, go to the SU Public Safety Website and click on "Crime Prevention" and then "Blue Lights" . Locations are noted for both North and South Campus.

The SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) University Police Department also provides a Blue Light emergency phone system. The phone system is located throughout the ESF campus, and links directly with the ESF University Police. Adaptive Aids
A number of adaptive aids related to safety are available for students with disabilities living in residence halls. Adaptive aids include but are not limited to, adaptive alarms, adaptive doorbells, and adaptive telephones. Students are encouraged to contact the Office of Disability Services for additional information or to make arrangements for the installation of adaptive aids.

The University provides a number of alternatives for students to travel around the campus and home.
Walking Escorts
Walking teams of escorts assist University students, faculty, staff, and visitors in getting across campus safely. Community members should use the free shuttle bus system whenever possible. Shuttle U Home
A free shuttle service provides transportation from the Syracuse University campus to the University Hill homes of SU students, faculty and staff within a specified geographic area. Syracuse University Ambulance (SUA) is a Syracuse University Health Services-based, student operated organization that responds to emergencies for registered SU and SUNY ESF students, faculty, and staff.

SU AMBULANCE NON-EMERGENCY MEDICAL TRANSPORT
Medical Transportation Services provides non-emergency transport for students with temporary mobility impairments and for those with permanent mobility impairments whose routine transport has been temporarily interrupted.
