A new Academic Plan was introduced in the spring of 2001 by Vice Chancellor Deborah A. Freund. Its initiatives are aimed at securing the foundation of SU's student-centered research mission and establishing "signature" experiences that will distinguish a Syracuse education. In addition, the plan calls for strategic research partnerships in the areas of information management and technology, environmental systems and quality, collaborative design, and citizenship and social transformation. The plan is being bolstered by a $180 million investment in new and renovated facilities.
