2.25 General Procedures

Procedures for review and recommendation may vary in the several schools and colleges but should conform to the general principles set forth in this document. The Senate has established the required procedures set forth below for all academic colleges and schools. Promotion in faculty rank requires the recommendation of the University Senate and the concurrence of the Chancellor and the Board of Trustees. All recommendations for promotion are reviewed by the Senate Committee on Appointment and Promotions before submission to the Senate and to the Board of Trustees. This committee will endorse or refuse to endorse the recommendations based on the degree of conformity of the school’s or college’s procedure with the required procedures. The Senate Committee on Appointment and Promotions serves as a judicial body with respect to interpretations of the rules and procedures for promotion of each of the colleges and schools.
