Welcome to the web home of Syracuse University emeriti faculty, retired SU faculty who have been honored upon retirement for their past and expected future contributions to SU and to their fields of study. Many emeriti faculty members continue as active members of the Syracuse University community, and in 2009-2010, with the support of Vice Chancellor/Provost Eric Spina, an Emeritus Faculty Group was formed.
With the help of Bron Adam, SU Director of Faculty Development, a small group of volunteers developed a survey of the emeritus faculty in 2010, and began the work of creating a viable group consistent with the responses we received. Thus far, this group has planned events with speakers of interest, receptions coinciding with notable performances, and occasions for socializing with former colleagues. This small volunteer group has now been expanded, with Vice Chancellor Spina’s help, to include Esther Gray, and has been assigned its own budgetary identity within the SU system – a huge step in enabling planning and growth.
